- Responsibility. Yes, it's more, which is good. The Director title and responsibility will look good on my resume, and I'll build more skills in those areas. On the other side of the coin, I'll be gaining a lot of the same experiences over the summer, as I learn what I'll need to know to help out the new director, so I could get the knowledge, without the parts of the job that may be personally draining. So, it's a toss up now, which needs more reflection on my part.
- Money. Yes, it would be more, but not a huge amount more. We'd also have to move into the Director's house, which is nice, but it's still another move less than a year after we moved here. Both Sue and I value stability, so a physical move so soon could be rough. Not enough to rule it out, but it's part of the calculus.
- Presidential search. The College is undergoing a presidential search right now, and while this won't have a big impact on my process, I am interested to see the outcome, before I start planning my continued move up the ladder of responsibility. Who the President is can truly determine the direction of the College, so I'd like a bit more knowledge on who is going to be sitting in the big chair before throwing my hat into the ring.
- Longevity. If I apply to this job, how long does it commit me to being in the position? I don't know. I need to think about that, and see how long we'd like to be in the area. Sue will be looking at possible degree programs at the college where she works, so stability could be really good now. More info needed.
- Job description. I still haven't even seen a job description for the Director position yet. Once I see it, I'll have a better idea of what I could be in for with the work.
So, those are some random thoughts. A lot of it is "more input necessary." I can truly say that I haven't really come to any conclusion yet, as I want to see what pans out over the next few weeks, with the actual position posting, and the possible conclusion of the Presidential search. There's also an Academic Dean position that has opened up at the College, that could be interesting to look at, again, depending on the job description.
More to come!
