Things that piss me off!

Rampage! Destroy! GRRRR!!!

Okay, that's out of my system. I thought it would be funny to list things that annoy me here. So, without further ado...

1. People walking through the wrong double door: When you approach a double door, generally, I feel that you should go through the right hand door. That way, people coming out the other way won't get a Mike Lord in their face. However, not everyone seems to know this rule of thumb. Grr.

2. Littering: Case in point. Today, I saw someone in the post office, who thought they dropped something, bend down and pick up a small piece of paper. When the person discovered it wasn't theirs, they dropped it back on the floor. Is it really that hard to throw something away, once you pick it up?

3. On the subject of doors again, if there are double doors, and one is open, everyone tries to go through the open door. I've seen people wait to get through the open door, when if the other door was opened, it would (amazingly) double the volume of traffic the entrance/exit could handle. And don't tell me that the one door is stuck closed, because I've *tried* the other door in these circumstances, and 95% of the time, it opens fine.

4. Lack of a sense of humor. Do I really even need to go into this? I'm not talking about people who find other things funny that I don't find funny at all. At least those people have a sense of humor, even if it's not mine. I'm talking about people who lack any humor at all. It's not as rare as I would think it would be.

Of course, I could go on, with people who are unwilling to think, to be critical of their own beliefs (which can be hard, I know), or whatever. But, I'd rather not get worked up this late at night.

This weekend should be a restful one. I think my body needs lots of sleep, and I'm ready to acquiese to that wish. I'm reading "On Human Nature" by E. O. Wilson right now, for a presentation I have to do at a conference in March on Sociobiology in Residence Hall Situations. It should be interesting, I think it'll be an interesting session, as long as I'm prepared for it.

I'd like to get it all ready by the middle of February, to give me plenty of margin time to revise and get comfortable with it. It should be fun.

Chuck Norris

For those of you who need some more Chuck Norris in your lives...

Chuck!

Still a bit under the weather. The hard thing about this is that my job pretty much requires me to talk/communicate during most of the day, so giving my voice a rest is not an easy task. It hasn't gotten any worse, but it certainly hasn't gotten any better either.

Waah!

Could be worse. Could be raining. Oh wait. It is.

On the genealogy front, I made a list today of the cemeteries I need to write to in NJ, in order to find out more information about who is buried with some distant branches of my tree. This is one way I find more people who are related. Who is buried with them?

Exciting stuff, I know...

Sick...

I'm feeling a bit more under the weather. I had to talk more today, and my throat is feeling it kind of hard. Also, my nose is a bit more runny, which may be connected to the talking thing, I'm not sure.

So, I'll be taking it easy.

I've got a case of the Mondays...

*cough* *cough*

I'm a bit under the weather today. On Friday evening, when I went to see the movie "Hostel" with some co-workers, I noticed that my throat was a bit scratchy. I took it easy over the weekend, and it is actually better than it was, but I still have a bit of a stuffed nose and itchy throat. I'm thinking it's going away, but I'll have to keep a close watch on it...

Speaking of this "Hostel" movie, it's not really worth seeing. There's a total of about one scary part to it, and it's not even that scary, more gross than anything. While I do like seeing stupid people do stupid things in these kinds of films, it really didn't do much for me. The start of the movie was a real slow set up.

The one thing I did enjoy about it is that the kid who is set up at the start as the "hero," or main character, ends up not being that person. It's his friend who is the real "hero" of the film. (I"m not worried about spoilers with this film, because it's so dopey otherwise). And, the friend wasn't white/anglo-saxon, which is a general departure in the horror genre that I thought was quite good. Too bad it was in such a lousy movie.

However, there was a preview for the remake of "The Hills Have Eyes," that looks like it has potential. I saw the original way back in college, and I think it's time to see it again.

I did watch two movies on DVD this weekend, "Office Space," and "The Day The Earth Stood Still." If you haven't seen them, go out and get them. I'm not really in the mood to summarize them here, or write a review, but trust me, they're good.

More later... I know I've been missing my daily updates, so I'm going to try to dedicate myself again to doing this.

Cheers!
