Boat Trip!

On Thursday of last week, I went on a harbor cruise for work, I was chaperoning students. A pretty easy gig, but it was fun to be on the boat. Here are my photos of the event...

At the dock of South Street Seaport in NYC, looking towards the boat, the white structure in the distance... Looking east towards Brooklyn.

Top deck again, looking up the East River at the Brooklyn Bridge. It was a nice evening, temp in the high 50's, I wore a sweatshirt to keep warm.

I like this view looking south, downtown, with the buildings and the sky... Pretty.

I thought this was a neat photo, because the current, from looking at the buoy, is actually moving against the current of the river. The tide must have been coming in, and the Hudson River/Harbor is one big estuary, affected dramatically by tides. This was an interesting view of the tidal effects in the harbor/river. Interesting to me at least...

About as far as we went upriver, we could see the UN Builiding in the distance. I'd like to go on the Circle Line sometime again, to go around the entire island... That would be fun, to me... Maybe during the summer it could be a fun thing to do.

We then headed into New York Harbor proper, and here's the restored Staten Island Ferry building. They've been working on it for quite a long time. It appears to be almost done.

And we'll end with the Statue of Liberty.... Thank you, France!
